Little Love Counseling

Little Love Counseling is a family-oriented practice that strives to provide practical care for the modern lives of families.

The goal of our practice is to be the best! We want our clients to know that we are regular, down-to-earth, approachable people. While we are certainly well-educated and continue to develop our skills as therapists, our hope is that the warmth of our hearts will create a safe haven that will empower our clients to create the future that they have always dreamed of living.

We work with children, couples, and individuals, and specialize in anxiety disorders, depression, grief and loss, postpartum depression, parenting challenges, marital conflict, and birth anxiety & trauma to name just a few.

In our practice, counseling is not just about healing and recovery, but rather our hope is that we are able to empower our clients to begin to imagine a life that is…amazing! Additionally, we hope that through the course of therapy a new dream will be awakened, and a new purpose will be seen with clarity.

We don’t over-prescribe therapy. We will work efficiently and creatively within a tight budget, and we love a challenge! If your specific challenge isn’t listed, feel free to contact us. We are well connected with other local therapists, so if we are unable to provide you with great care, we will be happy to connect you with another local therapist who can.

It is more than just finding a solution to a problem, it is about forging a path and creating a life that is inspiring.

Meet Jessica Shepard

Jessica L. Shepard, MA, LPC is the owner and clinical director of Little Love Counseling. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas Wesleyan University in 2009 with a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling. Since that time, she has continued to develop her skills as a therapist, seeking to be the very best. She lives and counsels from a holistic perspective, utilizing chiropractic care, nutrition, exercise, and essential oils as effective interventions for a variety of ailments.

A note from Jessica:

My clients are powerful, amazing people that allow me to walk alongside them through some of the most crucial and difficult moments of their lives. I am inspired by challenges, seemingly hopeless situations, and lives that are stuck in a rut. There is always a solution; there is always a path toward recovery. Sometimes it takes time, but it is always worth the time and effort.

On a personal note, I am married to the absolute love of my life. He was the single best decision of my life, and he imparts so much wisdom to me. He taught me about what real love is, and I am forever in his debt. Together we have four children (so far) that we delivered naturally, and free from intervention. This experience changed our lives and as such, I believe in and advocate for women to have options when birthing.

I am truly honored to serve women, first responders, and young families in this area and look forward to meeting you!

Thank you,

Jessica

Note: Jessica currently accepts clients on a referral basis only.

Meet Laura Cooke

I believe that everyone has a story and it deserves to be heard. My approach to counseling is to empower the client while maintaining a therapeutic and professional relationship. I believe that the counselor should not work harder than the client and the client should not work harder than the counselor. I will work hand in hand with the client, toward goals that are appropriate to their situation.

I have a Masters Degree in Counseling. I specialize in treating children, adolescents and adults who have experienced trauma, abuse, grief, depression, and anxiety. My ultimate goal is to help you become the best version of yourself.

Every day, it is important for me to remember that with each client I see, I may be the only person in their life capable of both hearing and holding their pain. I believe that everyone can benefit from counseling no matter what his or her situation is.

Laura Lane Cooke, M.A., LPC

-We must remember to honor our calling, even if it means embracing our most tragic circumstances-

Meet Elizabeth Woods

I believe that connection changes lives, both connection within each person and connection with others. I approach counseling with a holistic lens, taking into account the whole person- mind, body, and spirit. I believe we are created to live in harmony within ourselves even though we cannot always change or control external circumstances.

My goal as a therapist is to walk alongside my clients, providing a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental environment. I am honored to be a trusted person to sit with and hold the pain and suffering of others and offer hope for the future.

Just as physical healing takes time, emotional and spiritual healing also does not happen instantly! Seeking counseling is the first courageous step toward healing, but change takes time and effort. I hope to offer both space to process complex thoughts and emotions as well as collaborate on tangible solutions for specific issues.

I specialize in play therapy techniques and holistic approaches working with women, children, adolescents, and parents. Some areas of specialization include parenting, motherhood, family dynamics, life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and loss. I am trained in the TBRI (Trust-Based Relational Intervention) attachment-based model of care.

I believe that each person is worthy and capable of living a full life, and I am honored to be a part of your healing journey!

Meet Morgan Briggs

I believe healing is for everyone, even in the most challenging and seemingly impossible situations. I believe that everyone deserves for their story to be honored, heard and held. I believe healing happens in the presence of safe connection when you feel the freedom to bring anything to the table. I am committed to providing a safe, empathetic environment where you can tell your story without judgment. You are safe here and I am honored to be a part of your journey.

Healing is not linear. My approach to counseling is creating a space for you to feel heard, empowered, and validated as you walk through your own journey at your own pace. I approach each individual with the belief that they can attain complete healing. Whether it is a current situation or residue from years ago, there is hope for you.

I have a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and young adults, particularly in the areas of behavioral challenges, relational difficulties, life transitions, and parenting. I am also EMDR trained. Aside from therapy, I believe that "play" is an essential part of life. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities, sunsets that take their time, traveling in all its forms, and spending time with friends and family.

"People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, "Soften the orange a bit on the right-hand corner." I don't try to control the sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds." - Carl Rogers
