Professional Counseling

Little Love Counseling is a family-oriented practice that strives to provide practical care for the modern lives of families. We work with children, families, couples, and individuals, and specialize in anxiety disorders, depression, grief and loss, postpartum depression, parenting challenges, marital conflict, and birth anxiety/trauma to name just a few.

The goal of our practice is to be the best! We want our clients to know that we are regular, down-to-earth, approachable people. While we are certainly well-educated and continue to develop our skills as therapists, our hope is that the warmth of our hearts will create a safe haven that will empower our clients to create the future that they have always dreamed of living.

In our practice, counseling is not just about healing, or recovery, and while we love to help our clients through stages of depression, grief, anxiety etc. Our hope is that we are able to empower our clients to reach even further and begin to imagine a life that is…amazing! Additionally, we hope that through the course of therapy a new dream will be awakened and a new purpose will be seen with clarity. It is more than just finding a solution to a problem, it is about forging a path and creating a life that is inspiring.

At Little Love Counseling, we believe that life is meant to be lived fully. Children should be a joy, marriage should be full of fire and passion, work should be something that inspires you to your core, and you should awaken each morning with a renewed passion for living. If your life doesn’t feel this way, then give us a call. We don’t over prescribe therapy. We will work efficiently and creatively within a tight budget and we love a challenge!

If your specific challenge isn’t listed, feel free to contact us. We are well connected with other local therapists, so If we are unable to provide you with great care we will be happy to connect you with another local therapist who can.

Just for Moms

A baby changes everything…

Although they are a blessing, and their life itself creates hope for the future, a baby certainly changes everything of the family that once was. Whether you are a new family expecting your first baby or are expecting your 6th, we understand that babies change our lives. We work with our families to effectively communicate about their excitement and fears regarding this new blessing.

Parents often come in seeking “pre-parenting” counseling prior to the arrival of their first born for just a few sessions to make sure they are on the same page about what this dynamic change will mean for their family. While we can’t anticipate all that is to come in marriage or in parenting, it is always better to be educated and prepared as to create the best start possible.

Families that are adding children to their family also seek out therapy to help with sibling adjustment and balance in the home while a new standard of living is set in the home. Sometimes parents find it difficult to find time to talk or connect as families grow, and at times roles and responsibilities have to be adjusted in order to create balance. Families are welcome to bring children into each session and work as a whole system (nurslings are always welcome).

We help by working with our families to find that stability again!

Midwives & Doulas

We work with midwives because we get it.

It is deeper than that. It is an exceptional connection that is developed over the course of many months. It is a bond that is forged in love, acceptance, trust, and respect. We understand the hectic nature of your job and the willingness that you have to lay down your life for each of your clients. We understand that being a midwife is not just about the beautiful picture that is taken when the work is done and a baby is successfully brought earth-side.

It is more than a career choice, a job, or a passion… it is a calling.

Although this calling is amazing and wonderful, it also comes with some challenges. One of the largest challenges is finding balance. This profession has the ability to seep in slowly and take over every part of a midwife’s life and eventually create a life that can be rather chaotic. The unique craziness that can be the norm for midwives is what we strive to re-balance. Through psycho-educational therapeutic techniques, midwives are given the skills necessary to begin to restructure and gain control again in their own lives.

We understand the compassion of a midwife and the midwife’s model of care and work within these professional parameters. We believe that is is possible to effectively meet the needs of her clients while also living a life of balance. We structure therapy to work within the unique ideas of each midwife, concentrating on their personal and professional goals and then working collaboratively to achieve balance within that structure.

Other areas that we address with midwives and doulas are that of secondary trauma, chronic anxiety, family dynamic concerns, professional burn-out, acute stress disorder, and emotional cut-off.

If you have any questions about how we might be able to work with your specific situation please feel free to contact us. Additionally, if you are concerned about a client and would like more details about how we work with pre, post, and antenatal mothers give us a call. We would be honored to talk with you about your needs and/or your clients.
